Located in Piazza San Domenico, in the heart of Acireale's old town. Step outside and the Sicilian baroque unfolds before you.
Acireale is one of the most fascinating cities in eastern Sicily, situated on the Ionian coast at the foot of Etna, about 25 kilometres north of Catania. Known as the "Pearl of Sicilian Baroque", the city was almost entirely rebuilt after the catastrophic Val di Noto earthquake of 1693, from which emerged one of the most coherent and best-preserved baroque urban centres on the island.
At the heart of the city is Piazza Duomo, dominated by the Cathedral of Maria SS. Annunziata and the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, whose colourful majolica domes have become the iconic symbol of Acireale. Nearby stand the Basilica of San Sebastiano — its baroque façade among the most elaborate in Sicily — and the Liberty-style Town Hall.
The apartment's location — in Piazza San Domenico, in the heart of the historic centre, just steps from the main square — allows guests to experience Acireale from within. From the bedroom balcony, the majolica domes change colour with the light of day: golden at dawn, brilliant at midday, pink at sunset.
The ideal season is spring and autumn (18–24°C). Summer brings warm weather and the sea. February is the month of Acireale's famous Carnival, one of the oldest in Italy, celebrated with elaborate flower-adorned floats.
