Le Cupole di Aci / Ottobrata Zafferanese

4, 11, 18 & 25 October 2026 · Zafferana Etnea
Four October Sundays, each devoted to a different symbol of Etna: grapes, honey, apples, mushrooms and chestnuts. A 20-minute drive from Acireale, one of eastern Sicily's best-loved food festivals.
Ottobrata Zafferanese is Zafferana Etnea's market-festival of Etna's local produce: four Sundays in October, each one dedicated to a different product. 4 October opens with the Grape Festival, 11 October is Honey, 18 October Apples, and 25 October closes with Mushrooms and Chestnuts. Stalls, tastings, music and local crafts fill the town's streets at the foot of the volcano.
Zafferana Etnea is about 14 km from Acireale, a 20-minute drive along the SS114 and the roads climbing towards Etna: you'll need a car, it's not walking distance from our apartment. Le Cupole di Aci, in Piazza San Domenico in Acireale's historic centre, is still a comfortable base for the day trip: come back to sleep in the heart of Sicilian baroque after a day among Etna's flavours. Times, programme and recommended parking are on the event's official website.
If you'd rather not drive up there yourselves, we also offer a 4x4 off-road transfer on Etna; on request we can also book your taxi to and from Catania airport.
